I never in a million years would have ever guessed “cooking” to be a diamond!
Although I don’t mind cooking, I hate the clean up and the stress of trying to plan the perfect meal.
You know… Making sure all the food groups are included. It stresses me out thinking I could leave one out and they get their feelings hurt. Or worse yet, my family suffer from my lack of offering proper nutrition.
Anyway I digress.
But on this day in October at my daughter’s house cooking was just that – a diamond.
It was so enjoyable because everyone was included. Mr. Wonderful and the grand babies played and laughed sitting at the kitchen table while their mom and I made dinner. My daughter’s husband made no complaints either as we included him in our search and rescue mission of missing ingredients.
We shared stories of past kitchen experiences, took goofy pictures, laughed as the babies squealed at the mention of upcoming events and sometimes just hung out in the silence of the work.
Maybe the diamond isn’t in the cooking but in the fellowship; the breaking of bread and sharing life with those you hold dear. It’s simply enjoying where you are, who you’re with and what’s going on.
“I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing.” (Psalm 37:25-26)
