Exercise Caution When Using Words

Here is Day 3 of the Diamonds in a Day writing challenge. For more on what this is all about and to check out previous posts click here.

No diamond on the surface of this day.  All I could see was a lump of coal I wanted to chunk at someone’s head.

So let me start off with some scriptures. You’ll understand as you continue reading.

Proverbs 15:18 (Amplified); “A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger appeases contention.

Ephesians 4:31 (Amplified); “Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from you, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind).

Colossians 4:6 (NKJV); “Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.”

We had been waiting several weeks for cable to become available in our area. So when we finally had an appointment set up – you know the “we’ll be there between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm” kind of appointment – they STOOD.ME.UP!

I mean they give you a four hour window but can’t call you when something happens and they aren’t going to make it! Really – that’s just rude in my book.

As you can tell I’m a little angry about this one.

Now do you understand why I started out with scripture…

When Mr. wonderful got home he received a phone call asking if we could re-schedule. At first he was NOT budging…no push-over in this casa.

Hold to your guns babe – I need some entertainment.

As the conversation continued I could tell he was softening and now we were trying to decide if we wanted to go an additional two or three days without TV!?!

Then to top it off…he was apologizing and telling the guy he hoped the rest of his day went a lot smoother.

When he hung up I went into a 5 minute rant while Mr. Wonderful just stood there and let it happen. After I finished he told me the entire system – nationwide – had gone down and they had cancelled all installations for the day. A total of some 25,000 cancelled installations!

Re-read scriptures if necessary. I have 🙂

So where is the Diamond in this one?

Although it took me a little while to find it, here it is.

I am so glad I am NOT the cable guy. I am sure making those phone calls was brutal. (Example – Me!)
