Coffee, Newspapers & Nothing

Here is Day 5 of the Diamonds in a Day writing challenge. For more on what this is all about and to check out previous posts click here.

This is a rarity in our home…

Seriously…I can probably count on one hand how many times this has happened in our home. We usually don’t sit still long enough.

However on this day…a miracle!

We sat down, drank our coffee, ate a bite for breakfast, read the newspaper,

doodled and just relaxed!

There didn’t seem to be the push of work or anything really – it was a day we could just…breath! There are days I have to remind myself to do that.

But this was an anxiety free, roll up to the table and have a seat kind of day.

Exactly, but more…

It was a “be still and KNOW that I am God” diamond kind of day.

You see contrary to popular belief, we don’t have to be busy all the time. Because God is in every part of life.

Psalm 139:2, “You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.”

So take a seat, drink a cup of coffee, unfold the newspaper (or electronic gadget of your choosing) and do nothing. It’s okay…He’ll meet you right there at the table.

If you find me missing for a few (8 to be exact) days it’s because we are on vacation. I hope I will be able to post still, but if not stay tuned until I return to civilization/internet. Until then…continue looking for those Diamonds in your day!

  1. In our society we often think we need to be doing something for God, when in fact God would just like for us to sit still and listen to what He has for us.
